I made this pair of atcs last night using the Bandana Technique, the concept behind this technique is to use a white gel pen to draw along the lines of the actual stamped image to make the design pop out.
These atcs use 2 images from the Gothic Set, both the calligraphy wording Gothic, and the beautiful Celtic looking gothic crucifix. Both images where stamped onto book paper which I had previously sprayed with colourwash sprays.
I love using colourwash sprays to make instant brightly coloured backgrounds, I find the best way to use them so that there is minimal waste is to spray different colours on one sheet of paper, and then while that sheet is still wet place a blank sheet of paper directly over the top of the wet ink. Use your fingertips to rub all over the backside of the paper and then gently pull them apart for 2 instant beautiful coloured backgrounds which gives perfect results everytime!
Once the images where stamped I set about highlighting the images using the white gel pen and carried on till I was satisfied with the results. Next I trimmed and edged with a gold pen and affixed them onto a black atc matt to finish.

Im addicted to using these new stamps of mine
As before these artist trading cards were created using the bird stamp taken from the Home Impressions Gothic Set.
I decided to make 2 of these atcs because Im a doodle addict and cant seem to stop once I get going
The paper they are stamped upon is book paper which I sprayed with colourwash sprays. I added the swirls and doodles using a white gel ink pen.

Heres another artist trading card I created with the Gothic Set, I made this one using the el cheapo paperback book paper stash I have. For this background I painted the paper using a nice shade of brown acrylic paint, once dried I stamped the image onto the paper and set about putting little golden dots all over it using a gel pen. I then tore around the image, edged it with a krylon pen and then layered it with a sheet of uncoloured book paper onto the card. The quotation featured on the atc is another one I printed off.

Heres another Artist Trading Card I finished last night , yup Im an art addict alright
This atc is created using a Rose image taken from the Gothic Set, I stamped the image using the gesso inked background I used in the previous blog post.
I tore and cut around the image, edged it in gold and then layered it onto a sheet of printed paper which I had sprayed with colour wash sprays - I love using them! The words where printed and cut out from my computer and I also added some gold lines using a gel pen to finish it up.
Here it is below:

This is an Artist Trading Card which I finished off last night using the lovely Gothic Cross image taken from the Gothic Set which I am currently playing with
To make this atc I used printed papers taken from a cheap paperback book on horoscopes, I smooshed over the top of the paper with a red dye inkpad, then smooshed over the top of this using a sponge and white gesso. I love using gesso on backgrounds as it gives them a really lovely grungey muted effect - try it over printed scrapbook papers for a true collaged effect!
On my background paper I stamped the gothic cross image and once the ink was dry I used a while gel ink pen to draw along the lines of the stamped image to make it pop out a little.
Next I tore round the image, edged it with a gold krylon pen and then mounted it onto an atc background which I direct to papered earlier. To finish off the atc I added the word Faith which I printed off from my computer.

This is the flip side for my skinny page created for the turquoise and black themed swap I’m in.
As before I started out with a sheet of turquoise card and using black gesso and turqouise acrylic paint I created a background using punchinella and a sponge - basically I smooshed the paint and gesso through the sequin waste until I was happy with how the background looked - very messy and right up my street
I decided to stamp the barbed wire stamp twice which is taken from the Gothic Set to add a footer to the bottom of the page.
The Skinny page features a Row House which I cut from black card, I added the swirls and dot doodles using a turquoise gel ink pen and then affixed it to the page. I found this quote on a poem site online and loved it and decided to use it on this page.

I created this Skinny page for a Turquoise & Black themed swap which I have signed up for, we could use any theme we wanted so long as the colours we used were mainly blue & black.
I started off with a sheet of turquoise card stock and decided to ‘grunge’ it up using black gesso and smooshed it round the edges. I love using black gesso rather than o rdinaryblack acrylic in my artwork because the brand I use dries to a matt finish and it allows me to write over it with great ease which is a plus if your addicted to doodling like I am
Naturally I decided to use my new favourite stamps taken from the Gothic Sheet by Home Impressions
I am addicted to using birds in my artwork and I thought that the black bird image would look very striking against the turquoise blue background which I created.
The barbed wire you can see at the top of the skinny page is also taken from the same sheet, I thought it would make a cool header for the page and give it a real spooky edge.
I found this quotation online and fell in love with it and had to use it
You can see it below:
